Football great and popular TV personality Terry Bradshaw spoke at the SafeHaven’ s Legacy of Women Awards Luncheon this year in Tarrant County.  He was, as always, entertaining and genuine.

“He is not only a natural in front of the camera. He is one of the most genuine people I have ever worked with. Even with four Super Bowl rings, and all that testosterone, the man is so down-to-earth and loveable.” – Academy Award winner Kathy Bates

Alyce Jones, owner of Adair Eyewear, was also in attendance to honor award winners.  There were 600-750 ladies in attendance.   Ten women of Tarrant County (listed below) were honored for their outstanding achievements in the community.

Sissy Day | Texas Petition Strategies
Fonda Martin | Art Council Northeast
Mayor Betsy Price | City of Fort Worth
Alice Puente | Alice and Buddy Puente Foundation
Lynda Railsback | Friends of the Arts
Lynda Sanders | Colleyville Women’s Club
Shonda Schaefer | GRACE
Nancy Tice | Arlington Museum of Art
Renova Williams | Community Volunteer
Sharen Wilson | Tarrant County D.A.

Alyce Jones is very supportive of SafeHaven as well as other charitable groups in the DFW area.  She owns and manages Fort Worth’s outstanding designer eyewear shop, Adair Eyewear, located on West 7th Street in the museum district.

How long do you stare at a screen?

Did you know that light at night might be bad for your health? – especially the blue wavelengths emitted from electronics and fluorescent light bulbs (which is a harmful artificial blue light).

“At night, light throws the body’s biological clock—the circadian rhythm—out of whack. Sleep suffers. Worse, research shows that it may contribute to the causation of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.”The Harvard Health Letter

What can you do and how does this relate to eyewear? We suggest trying our blue blocking lens options (Of course we have options to incorporate any other needs you might have in a lens – And we can use these advancements in reading glasses or even a non prescription lenses.) For example, the Essilor Smart Blue Filter can be combined with the Crizal Prevencia to receive the ultimate protection from UV and Harmful Blue Light.

Essilor has a mission to improve lives by improving sight.  Here is a short video by them to help you understand blue light and discusses one option we offer to combat the effects of blue light.
